Wind Capital
Group and John Deere Capital will feature 24 turbines made by Suzlon Energy.
This project was completed Spring 2008. (July 2009)
Loess Hills Wind Project
Rockport, Nodaway County, Missouri - A 5 MW wind project of the
Wind Capital
Group features 5 Suzlon Energy S-64 (1.25 MW) turbines. This project lies within
the city limits of Rockport on Agricultural land and produces enough electricity to
make Rock Port, Missouri, the first community in America capable of meeting its
entire annual electricity demands from wind power.
Not sure why this isn't considered a 7.25 MW project, but there you
go. This project was completed Spring 2008. (July 2009)
Lost Creek Wind Project
DeKalb County, Missouri - A 150-MW project of
Wind Capital Group is planned to have 100 General Electric 1.5 MW

Proposed Missouri Wind Projects
Shuteye Creek Wind Project
Adair, Putnam, & Sullivan County, Missouri -
With development starting in 2008, this project was originally
planned as a
400-500 MW wind farm for parts of Sullivan, Putnam and Adair
Counties in Northeast Missouri by Lenexa, Kan.-based
TradeWind Energy.
In April 2012, it was announced that this project was being
terminated because it was "increasingly evident that the wind energy
market in Missouri will simply not develop in the foreseeable future
given the lack of interest in wind energy in the state", according
to TradeWind CEO Rob Freeman. (April 2012)
Rock Creek Wind Project
Atchison County, Missouri - A 300-400 MW wind project of
Lenexa, Kan.-based
TradeWind Energy
is under development. (Nov. 2008)
Barry County wind project
Barry County, Missouri - In 2007, Wind Capital
Group of Jefferson City, Missouri proposed a 50 MW wind farm near
the town of Exeter. At that time, 30 turbines were planned for 16
properties. As of 2010, the project was still active and had a
meteorological tower up and running, but had yet to secure
financing. At that time, a WCG official noted that the wind speeds
at this location were not as robust as those in NW Missouri, but
they still hoped to market the project. (October 2012)
Cass County Wind Energy Project
Cass County, Missouri - A 75 MW wind project entered the
Southwest Power Pool (SPP) interconnection-queue for Cass County in 2010. This project
was in the Missouri Public Service utility service area
with a proposed on-line date of December 2012, but was later withdrawn.
More information on this project will be added as it is accessed.
(September 2012)
Gentry County Wind Energy Project
Gentry County, Missouri - Pennsylvania-based Community Wind Energy
is developing a project in Gentry County. (Oct. 3, 2006)
Holt County Wind Energy Project
Holt County, Missouri - A 151.2 MW wind project is in the
Southwest Power Pool (SPP) interconnection-queue for Holt County. This project
entered the queue in 2010 in the Missouri Public Service utility service area
with a proposed on-line date of June 2012. As of September 2012, the
Impact Assessment for this project was fully executed and the project was on
schedule. More information on this project will be added as it is accessed.
(September 2012)
Jasper County Wind Energy Project
Jasper County, Missouri - Two 150 MW wind projects entered the
Southwest Power Pool (SPP) interconnection-queue for Jasper County in 2009. These projects
were planned for the Empire District service territory with a
proposed on-line dates of December 2014 (150 MW) and December 2015 (150 MW). Both projects
were later withdrawn from the queue.
More information on this project will be added as it is accessed.
(September 2012)
White Cloud Wind Project
Nodaway County, Missouri - TradeWind Energy of Lenexa, Kans. is working on a 300 MW project
located approximately seven miles Southwest of Maryville. They estimate the project
to be on-line in 2013.
(January 2010)
High Prairie Wind Energy Project
Schuyler County, Missouri - Wind Capital Group is studying a
possible 31 turbine project near Queen City in Schuyler County. The plan as of
June 2011 was for 31 GE 1.6 MW wind turbines, though the make and model of turbine
could change. The Department of Defense ruled that they had no objection to this
project.
More information on this project will be added as it is found.
