Existing Statutes

Statute 66-1,184 - Contracts for parallel generation services between electric utilities and their customers; terms and conditions; duties of customer. Provides generators of electricity from renewable resources compensation that "shall be not less than 150% of the utility's monthly system average cost of energy per kilowatt hour".

Statute 79-201 - Property exempt from taxation. Section 11 deals with renewable energy, reading: "For all taxable years commencing after December 31, 1998, all property actually and regularly used predominantly to produce and generate electricity utilizing renewable energy resources or technologies. For purposes of this section, "renewable energy resources or technologies" shall include wind, solar, thermal, photovoltaic, biomass, hydropower, geothermal and landfill gas resources or technologies."

Passed Bills

House Bill 2263 (PDF) - An ACT concerning the transmission of electricity, enacting the Kansas electric transmission authority. Passed by House as amended, 98-25, on Feb. 24. Passed by Senate 37-2. Signed into law by Governor Sebelius, April 18, 2005.

House Bill 2245 (PDF) - An ACT concerning electric generation relating to certain parallel generation services; providing for issuance of bonds for certain purposes; amending K.S.A. 66-1,184 and repealing the existing section. Signed into law by Governor Graves, May 22, 2001.
